North Fork Moose

Thousands of locals love to float the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River but this summer they're sharing the locale with a handful of moose. Teresa Peugh was camping there last week with her teenagers and enjoying a leisurely float when this bull elk wandered down the bank into the water right in front of their raft. They were able to quickly exit the raft in the shallow water and back up to give the moose the right-of-way. Teresa tells OnLocation that in addition to the bull moose there are two cows and a youngster who've taken up residence south of the Bumble Bee Bridge. Another reminder to give wide berth to wildlife when you're out enjoying the forest and rivers of North Idaho.
